Awareness (Ding!)

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

There is justice in the air. You have just now tuned into Operation Rebel. I am your host ComplXx. Just for those of you who don't know yet, Dreams, yes I said Dreams, are ILLEGAL.

Well...they are NOT illegal. Down with the suppression of dreams! Down with the oppression of urban adults and teens! Operation Rebel.

Poetry Break
from yours truly

(The Hood is) Blowin In the Wind

Cowards live nine lives
The courageous just one
Solomon says this is constant under the sun

Old women protect young boys
While older men go after younger girls
The old die
While the young leave jail to rape another day
For the courageous I cry

No time for Kleenex
Cemeteries are makeshift
Urban folks are shiftless
Except for going to grave dig

Or prison
The statistics given
Say 25 years is a blessing

God why can't we set higher standards?!
Good times are chow lines
amidst drugs and weapons

Sectioning off lives like auction blocks
Got the look out, middlemen and old heads
fronting young boys a rock

Maybe soon we'll realize that our Carters
Is like genocide in Hotel Rwanda

What happened to our pride?
Did it die
When Brown was buried in the ground?
What happened to our unity?
Did it leave
When our Queen started singing R&B?
What happened to our kings?
Did they get lost in the pyramids of dollars bills
[whose's fronts] don't resemble you or me?
What happened to us all?
Did we get Lost like Boys of Sudan to war?

We're asking and asking
But like bad students
We're not finding any answers
Chances
(we have) To improve
but we throw them away
because we'd rather blame Bush for a bad economy
After the presidential election
We cried and complained
Instead of trying to help out the campaign
One man should have not been forced to care for our kids
Because we left them behind
